On April 25th 1985 a star is born. Andrew Jamieson was the birth name given to this new born, but as a teenager going into manhood this star would be known as "Gliss". Being born in Philly and raised in New Jersey under the provision of Jamaican parents and family Gliss found that he was very unique with expressing himself. At a young age he developed an advanced creative skill in arts. His pearents thought he grow to be an artist, a basketball player, a doctor or a lawyer. His intellegence made it obvious that this young star in the making would be able to accomplish whatever he would put his mind to. It wasn't ironic at all when Andrew's brightest talent came to light. The bright eyed youngster was lyrically inclined before he began preschool. Being an 80's baby who would step into the 90's with a hunger for success, a natural love for art, and a poetic way with words the young Gliss would realize his destiny was to shine, and to shine bright. His skill landed him in the presents of many big artist and producers who showed a liking for the raw talent within Gliss. At 13 he would find himself cyphering in front of Big Pun with a older group of artist in which he stood out, and even Pun was amazed. After listening to the teenager while quietly sitting in his limo Pun reacted "Shorty a beast, he gon be a problem." Maybe it was one of those great minds think alike moments that attracted Pun's attention directly to Gliss's lyrical performance, or maybe it was just the bits of that Bronx culture that had already influenced Gliss from vacating to the BX during summers and other school breaks to spend time with his cousins and his father. Whatever it was that made the connection, the connection was made. As Gliss grew older and began to mature he linked up with his close friend Pop, another Jamerican, and the two became the Imperial Lynx. They amazed the city with hotness that appealed to elders despite the 13 and 14 year old rappers ages. Pop ended up moving back to Philly and Gliss teamed up with another one of his homies Qwess, and they began GQ. The two still mantianed to do solo projects while woking side by side. Immediately after graduating from high school Gliss would find himself along side with his boys Wag and Wop meeting Jay-Z at his hotel to travel to the Roc the Mic concert in Camden at the Waterfront with Jay's entourage. While chilling in Chi-Town with Wess and producer Arkitekt Jay-Z told Gliss to complete his album and return to him with it. Shorlty after the meeting Roc-A-Fella records began to seperate as members ventured off into different business projects. Gliss continued to do him and began recording songs with well known artist including Gilly, and Dutch of Major Figgaz, Chopper of Da Band, and many other local and national artist. After having his first son Gliss sought more reliable ways to make money and looked away from rap for the fisrt time in years. It took virtually no time until Gliss realized he was not a 9-5 person as smart and lazy as he knew himself to be. After having his inspiration for rap ignited once again by Bevan, Wag, Wop, Pop, Qwess, brother Terror, cousins Kimo, Cage and Buddah Love, Gliss was back on track. After years of being the most well known battle rapper in the city Gliss longed to express his artistic self more creatively. Gliss began to take Jay's advice and worked on the album. Adjusting to the game today was a boring process for the old school native, but after being given the opportunity to record with one of his favorite producers Bink(1-900-hustler, Momma Loves Me [Blue print]), Gliss was sure that his obligation to success was to use his talent. Today Gliss is holding it down for the Fam and attempting to get the team in the door as soon as possible, however possible, yet without comprimise. After all the love, hate, happiness, and pain G experienced growing up off the border of Camden the star still shines effortlessly. So if you feel like the dark cloud is over your head, sit back, roll one, pop a bottle or whatever and let the vocals of GS shine insight on your day.
