About Me

As the first tribal studio in the world, Nomad revolutionized the piercing industry. Since 1993, Nomad has been using indigenous tradition to influence and modernize the act of modification--tribal arts, 21st century technology. Free-hand and large gauge piercing, introducing organic ear wear, and fabrication of fine custom body jewelry, all against the backdrop of the only tribal body adornment museum in the United States are just some of the features that have set Nomad apart from the rest. Blake and Nomad Piercing Studio have been the focus of numerous books, magazine articles, and tv shows. (Visit www.nomadmuseum.com to see our credentials). Blake is also the only piercer to author a book "A Brief History of the Evolution of Body Adornment in Western Culture: Ancient Origins and Today", an anthrpological/autobiographical narrative published in 2003; now out of print. In 2005 Blake and Tribalife media also produced a Nomad double DVD Nomad) marketed to advanced piercers featuring extreme tribal procedures and advanced freehand technique, Blake's primary contributions to the piercing industry, still available through Nomad, Portland directly. In 2004, Blake presented the esteemed APP Anthropology lecture in Las Vegas, and again in Mexico City in 2006. For the entire year of 2009 the famous Nomad collection was featured at the Portland Art Museum at their new Precolombian gallery on the second floor. Blake served as consultant and assistant curator for this first-of-it's kind exhibit in the Northwest. Nomad celebrated it's 16th year anniversary this February 14th, 2009 as well as Blake's 21st year as a piercer. Still working every day at a studio (since 1990); something NO ONE else in the industry can say...we are also very proud to announce our newest studio located in Portland, Oregon. (Technogeeks, be aware that there is at least one unapproved usurper using the Nomad name illegally in California. There is no affiliation. Nomadas in Jailisco, Mexico is our brother studio south of the border.) Poppa Nomad assumes no responsibility for service at any other Nomad than Poppa Nomad's Nomad in Portland Oregon. Yes, the name can be licensed, even usurped or stolen, but my skills cannot be duplicated, nor my experience transferred. There's NO PLACE LIKE HOME!Nomad--Portland: 4827 SE Division, 503.236.6118 monday-saturday, noon to six-ish
