Band Members:Born Carvis Cartrell Durr on December 20th, 1988 in Gulfport, Mississippi, Singer/Songwriter CARVIS is one of the most gifted and undiscoverd artists out there. While growing up in Gulfport, Carvis quickly became attached to music as he enjoyed listening to the likes of Marvin Gaye, Micheal Jackson and Sam Cooke. He didn't get involved in music until his High School days because it took Carvis some time to realize he had a wonderful gift. While attending Gulfport High School, Carvis decided to take up Show Choir. This helped him to improve on his singing and dancing, and to also win a number of local talent shows. Now at the tender age of 19, Carvis has grown into a talented artist whose is ready to show the world what a country boy, with a smooth southern swagger, can contribute to the R&B game. Now Carvis realizes its not going to be easy because of all the competition out there, but he feels through God's guidence, all of his dreams are possible. Not only is he a great singer, Carvis is also a gifted basketball player who is enrolled to play basketball on the Collegian level.With numerous basketball awards and the talent shows under his belt, Carvis thanks God for all of his blessings. Because whether its on the court or in the booth, Carvis is someone to pay close attention to. Carvis also gives alot of credit to his family, friends, the city of Gulfport, his second home in Orlando, Florida and to all who have shown support while he pursues his dreams.Gulfport which is often revered to as the Gulf Coast, was almost completely destroyed by one of the biggest disasters in the history of the United States, which was Hurricane Katrina. Even though directly hit, Gulfport as well as the rest of the coast tends to get lost in the discussion about the horrible storm due to the name and glamour of New Orleans. One of Carvis' goals is to bring some positive spotlight to his hometown of Gulfport and the state of Mississippi. "Gulfport gave me my swagger" says Carvis. "I want people to get to know the new Mississippi not what you have seen in those old black history films"*
