About Me

*** IMPORTANT NOTE*** PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOUL COMMENTS, MESSAGES, OR HAVE FOUL LANGUAGED PAGES THEY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ON THIS PAGE AND THEY WILL BE DELETED IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT WARNING.***** ************************************************************ Ronnie Haig was born "Ronald D.Hege" in Indianapolis Indiana, and still lives a half city block from that birthplace. His interest in music had brought him to the learning of his first song, "You are my sunshine" at age six. The radio was always on, so that made it easy. His first influences in the music world were all country stars. Red Foley, Little Jimmie Dickens, Eddie Arnold, Hank Williams,Roy Accuff, and so many others brought him close to that radio each Saturday night to hear (not see) the "Grande Ole Opry" from Nashville Tn. It was about that same time that he discovered the old accoustic guitar his brother "Jack" had purchased and kept leaning in the corner of their bedroom. Little by little, those "Opry" stars became Ronnie's teachers. He learned every song they sang, like he had to. (Even the commercials) Later on (about age 13) Ronnie began getting more serious about the guitar and learning new chords. He got involved in music at school and also his church, where he learned hundreds of songs. Shortly after getting his first real job at the Library, he was on his lunch hour one day when he experienced something that would change his life forever. A "Whirlitzer Juke Box" started playing the music of "Bill Haley". Ronnie couldn't wait to get home and try what he had just heard. Soon after that - over radio station WLAC he learned about another form of music. Guys like "Little Richard", "Bo Diddley", "Chuck Berry" etc. took him into an era that has not ended even to this day. Also at Ronnie's church, he was really getting into southern gospel songs. He really couldn't seperate the two. So he started singing both, whenever and wherever he was invited. It was through these influences that he was able to form the "Ronnie Haig Sound". In 1956 Ronnie purchased a "Gibson ES-295 Gold, which he still has and plays to this day. Ronnie met up with a singing group called "The Five Stars" and was asked to become their guitar player for 10% of their earned fee for doing a show. As they approached their next recording session, at rehersal one night, it was decided he would be playing on their next record. "Note Records" released "Pickin' on the wrong chicken" b/w "Dreamin" and he was asked to do two of his own songs, which by then, he had written about half a dozen . So, on that same night - Feb 18th 1958 they recorded 4 singles at "Chess Studios" in Chicago. It was a dream come true. "Don't you hear me calling Baby" b/w "Traveler of love" was released on "NOTE" and 15 days later was picked up by "ABC Paramount" for national, and international distribution. It was that night that locked Ronnie into two things. The music business, and getting used to his new name "Ronnie Haig". Ronnie states he is pleased that he was able to record 17 songs at "Chess Studios"during that early era, of both of his songs and many others as well. Ronnie just celebrated his 50th anniversary in music. It has earned him a spot in "The Rockabilly Hall of Fame" as well as "The Roots of Rock & Roll" of which he is very proud. That part of his life, and those songs, took him to many of your home towns accross the country, as he performed. Well, 50 years of memories, both good and bad, and some 700 songs (plus or minus) later, Ronnie finds himself enjoying the writing of Christian Music, as well as recording them. He is also very proud, as a writer, to have one of his songs recorded by "The "Overtones" (a fantastic gospel quartet from here in Indiana). Their latest cd has "Walk By Faith" on it- which Ronnie wrote. Ronnie is not actively performing Rock & Roll anymore, but still loves the heck out of it. His entire attention is on his Christian music, and how he can best get "The Word" out to those who don't know "Jesus" as their Lord and Savior. He tried to express that with the release of his Christian cd's "Treasures of Time" "Inspiring Moments" "Just Hold On" and the latest on "Roadshow Records" "Jesus Music" ( thanks to owner T.J.Murr) Ronnie's early years of Country and Rock and Roll still show up in his Christian music. It is Ronnie's belief that by using both of these styles of music, he can approach many different people about Christ. That (at this point) is his goal in life. To use what talent he has, for "Him" He hopes you will take a listen to some samples of all his music on this page and comment about them. Ronnie is very happy in life right now sharing every moment of it with his beautiful "wife" and "soulmate" "Susie". Listen close! You will hear her and his sister in law "Roxie Mae" Performing as back up singers on many of his recordings. Here are a few labels Ronnie Haig has recorded on in his career.1.) Note 2.)
