U-turn . Back to start. Back to myself. After the years I'd spent in bands, everybody was quite disoriented about my solo project. Now it’s just me and my acoustic guitar. Simple melodies. Open tunings. Straightforward lyrics. This is Nil Durden. Pure singer-songwriter . And songs have to sound good like that, stripped down to bare essentials.
“Yeah... but what about rock ?â€
And that's when Mirko at Itaca Recording Studios introduced me to Hobo. Bang. A pounding rhythm section . And a raw, 1961 Strat through a Vox. Fueled by the band's instinctive approach, my acoustic guitars were kicking harder than ever. Songs were still intimate and immediate, but now had a whole new live feeling .
From furious riffs to soulful ballads, in each track Mirko blended Hobo's biting overdrive with the southern flavor of my open tunings. His touch added vinyl-depth to my vocals and gave warm, vintage sounds to the recording. John Davis at Alchemy Soho engineered the final master. Enjoy .
