I oftentimes compare myself to the mythical bird - the Phoenix. I am trying to rebuild my life and discover who I am again. I married at age 23 to the greatest man I ever knew, my best friend, William. We did not live a lush life, but we didn't need a lot of expensive things. We had each other and we were happy. He was my life. In April of 2004, he was in a tragic high speed automobile accident in which he and his best friend were killed and everything shattered. Not a day goes by that I do not think about him and miss him. I learned very much from my husband and what I learned helped to shape who I am. He personified integrity and respect and I aspire to do the same. After his death, I learned even more. I was out of my mind with grief and learned that there are evil people in this world who take every advantage of your disadvantages. I definitely learned who my true friends were and I learned to trust no one. Although I am rebuilding my life and picking up the pieces of my broken heart and moving on, every day is a challenge. I am blessed with a wonderful family and friends structure that provides me much emotional support. I am in a relationship at this time with a man who was friends with my husband. He has an 8 year old daughter who I absolutely love and adore. For those who stand in judgment of how I have handled things since William died and how I live my life, I pray that they never have to go through what I did and I just have this to say, "Only God will judge me." Your opinion just doesn't matter.
