Chris Murray

About Me

Over the course of his career, Chris Murray has had the distinct pleasure of playing almost every style of music that has piqued his interest, from Funk to Jazz to R & B and Fusion, Reggae, Go-Go, Country, Alternative, Arena Rock, Blues, Drum & Bass, and everything in between. But he always seems to come back to the ones that mean the most to him musically and that is usually somewhere between Funk, R & B and Jazz. He has done “Mercenary” or fill-in work for the better part of the past decade and continues to accept offers and opportunities to play live or does studio work with the areas’ top tier of talent. He is currently playing with the band ”Crowded Streets – A Dave Matthews Band Tribute” in and around the MD, DC and VA area.
Some of the bands & musicians that have had Chris play in their project or that he has shared a stage with from the Mid-Atlantic Region include:
The Groovalistic All-Stars, The Fishermen Band, The Pocket Band, Willie Strings & the Players, Papa Shake, Magnolia Blue, Boogiehawg, Odyssey, Doc Scantlin & The Imperial Palms Orchestra, Uncle Chunky, Orange Whip, Tony Grasso, Tom Kirk, Paul Lewis, The Ron Land Band, Dave Hill, Jon Blank, Uncle Melvin’s Downtown Scratchers, The Slow Learners, The Jack Diamond & Jim Steed Band, Ten Beers Bold, Colouring Lesson, Jah Works, The Lloyd Dobbler Effect, Lionize, Welbilt and just to name a few.

Through the course of time, playing 1000's of live shows by now and learning all he couuld along the way, Chris has now earned a place on the marquis as one of the many drummers from the Mid-Atlantic region with a style all his own.
Sounds Like: Chris Murray has the distinct ability that many drummers lack and even more musicians cherish in a drummer. That is the unique ability to sound like whatever fits the situation; be it jazz, funk, soul, reggae, rock, blues, fusion or anything else that comes down the pike. Having been so steeped in various styles of music for his entire life and soaking it all in like a sponge has served his craft well!

One things is for sure...when Chris is behind the kit...there is no mistaking it! He truly has developed a style and an energy that is a one of a kind!
Record Label: Aspiring to get picked up as a label musician.
