Homegrown Rock & Roll

About Me

..REAL! That’s how you describe RUSTY BLADEN. Genuine homegrown country fried rock & roll with a kick that always leaves you wanting more. He is sincere and heartfelt with no apologies and no regrets.
“RIDE THAT RIVER,” the title track to Rusty’s most recent CD, is featured in the MGM major motion picture “MADISON” and recorded with John Mellencamp band members. If you want to smile, cry, laugh, love or just party like crazy, come along for the ride with Rusty Bladen. You’ll hear a voice like no other. Rusty has taken his strongest musical influences and blended them into something unique, true to himself and his voice.
If you call Rusty a Good Ole Boy, he’ll just smile with pride as he was born and raised in Madison, Indiana, a quiet town on the Ohio river between Cincinnati and Louisville. His original songs reflect the importance of family values, good times and small town influences.
Rusty has played tons of clubs, fairs, festivals, private events and colleges around the Midwest and has an extremely loyal following. He's learned a lot along the way from his heroes and friends, but his live show, whether acoustic solo or full band, is pure RUSTY BLADEN...wide open with lots of crowd participation and energy. From the back yards and front porches to the stages of America, you can see and hear RUSTY BLADEN and there’s no doubt you will come away saying WOW!

BLADEN PART OF LEGENDARY MADISON BAND "AURA" REUNION AUGUST 2
Gas is 93 cents a gallon. Ronald Reagan is beginning his second term as president, and Back to the Future is the 1 box office draw.In Madison, Indiana, people are lined up in the parking lot of the Hereford Lounge to see local band, AURA in concert.
Fans will now have a chance to see the band again, in 2008. On August 2, AURA will reunite for one show, at the Moose Lodge in Madison. Showtime is 8pm.
Back in 1986, five young musicians, Rusty Bladen, Mark Bear, John Canfield, Todd Brindel of Madison and Warren Shacklette from Louisville were on stage. Dressed in brightly colored spandex pants, with eye liner and teased up long hair, the lights are flashing, drums pounding and the guitars cranking out Top 40 rock and roll.
From 1981 to 1987, AURA ruled the Madison music scene and through lineup changes, had some of the town’s most talented musicians that included Derin Lowry, Darrell Hewitt, Tim Kelly, Dave Wells, Berry Burleson, Bobby T. Sampson, Bill Dossey, and Jim Stewart, all of Madison. AURA broke up in 1987 and the band members went separate ways, starting new jobs and families. As time went by, there were rumors of a band reunion but it never happened. Now after 22 years, it’s official!
“It’s not just a band reunion - it’s a fan reunion”, says Bladen, “it’s a chance to see old friends and reflect on some great times when they were younger and maybe just a bit wilder. For the younger generation, it’s a chance to see what they missed when their parents were rocking out in the ‘80’s."
All ages welcome. Tickets are $7.00 at the door. Kids 12 and under admitted free. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Jefferson County United Way.
Influences: Neil Young, John Prine, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, Todd Snider, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, John Hiatt, Chuck Berry, The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, Jim Croce, James Taylor, Bob Seger, CCR, Steve Earle, CSNY, Shel Silverstein.
Sounds Like: All of the above influences combined.
