Gerald Situmorang was born in Jakarta on May 31, 1989. He began playing guitar at the age of 13.
Initially, he studied under Armstrong Pitoi of the New Breeze for 3 years,
and later under Nikita Dompas for one year where he improve his skills and grew his passion in jazz. Now he took private lesson at Institut Musik
Daya with Dion Janapria.
He started writing his first song at the age of 14. At 16, he started composing his own song for his band "Sketsa".
He already participated in many of Jakarta's most prestigious festivals such as Jazz Goes To Campus, Java Jazz Festival, JakJazz Festival, and PL Fair.
Currently he is working for his first album with Sketsa.
