All four members of The Kitecrashers have done time in shitty punk bands - Aaron Spring played guitar in former "Cincinnati's Fattest Band" award winner the Hypochondriacs, Matt Fantastic sang and played guitar in The Adjectives, and Mike played guitar in an outfit whose name this author has never bothered to commit to memory. Likewise for Quinn Andrews, who fronted some horrifying screamo band as a teenager. Aaron and Quinn met in the late 90's because of their bands, who played various basement shows at the now defunct 2nd Warner House.
Years later, and shortly following the breakup of The Hypochondriacs, Aaron and Quinn agreed over a drunken rendezvous to develop some of the material Quinn had accumulated. Quinn had spent the intervening years refining his songwriting towards a solid pop sensibility. The two set out to turn this into fully realized arrangements, and quickly decided they had the kernel of a solid band.
Unfortunately, an excruciating search for a drummer left the duo flailing for much of the next year. It was only after persuading Matt to pick up a bass that things fell into place, as Matt brought his longtime friend Mike on board. Despite never having played drums in a band before, Mike seized this opportunity by the dong and refused to let go.
With the lineup set and demos recorded, the foursome is energized and ready to hurl their blues-infused take on indie rock against the crushing indifference which awaits fledgling local bands .
