With over 10,000 puppy mills right here in the good ole' US of A many of you do not know that 99% of puppies sold on-line or in pet stores come from puppy mills. The MLAR foundation, The Humane Society and the ASPCA have done extensive research and are confident that this is an accurate estimate of the puppies sold. What a lot of you do not know or realize is how cruel, inhumane, unconscionable the conditions are for these poor animals. They are treated worse then cattle, made to live out their lives in small rabbit cages with several other dogs. The spend their whole lives pumping out litter after litter, never taken out of the cages, given adequate medical care when needed and then shot and killed when of no use. An average female dog will spend 8 to 10 years in a cage, 2 litters a year, 6-8 puppies per litter. That's over 100 puppies they have per dog per lifetime and ALL sold to buyers that are unaware of where they really come from. If you were to see the sad circumstances in which they are kept I am confident as a human being you will not stand for it. My mission and goal here is to close down ALL puppy mills. It is a business to them and without customers the demand will decrease and eventually have to shut down. There is NEVER a need to have to buy from a pet store or on-line EVER! Even if they tell you that the are not from puppy mills, the Pet Store and so called on-line" breeders" has a way to get around being forthright. No responsible breeder will sell to a Pet store or post on-line and then ship them to you, because they do not know where their puppies will be going. As far as on-line goes...if you cannot physically go to their home, check out the environment, the breeding parents, and call references, they got their puppies from a puppy mill. What on-line sellers do is buy a bunch of puppies from puppy mills and then advertise them as coming from good, AKC, registered homes. DONT BE FOOLED!!You are always welcome to email me at
[email protected] if you have questions about a breeder...I will get back to you with a answer within 24 hours. Be Careful, Don't be fooled and spread the word. FOR OUR ANIMALS!!!!
The three suggested forms of getting a dog are as follows:
1. Your Local Pound or Humane Society
Four million dogs and cats are killed every year for lack of homes and space. The best designer blends are found here!
2. Your local specific breed rescue
Many dogs of all ages (even puppies) can be found through these charitable foundations if you are looking for that certain breed of dog.
3. Local breeder
If you MUST have a dog from a breeder, do your due diligence and thoroughly check out the breeder and the conditions in which the parents live in. Especially the breeding females because they often endure the worst treatment.
Most of all if you are looking for a puppy then you are a animal lover and all the joy and unconditional love they bring to us we OWE it to them to protect them and take the time find the right dog and under the right conditions.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!
