Rumor Has It all began in 2008, in the city of La Puente, California. Four best friends, tired of a boring, crime filled city, decided to come together and express their emotions in a simple art form called music. Since picking up instruments, RHI has not stopped or looked back for anything or anyone, overcoming countless obstacles to get where they’re at today. Whether it was getting equipment and personal belongings stolen at shows, amps blowing out, cymbals cracking, promoters cancelling shows last minute, RHI didn’t let that kill their confidence or motivation to make something of themselves and put their hometown on the map on a positive note.
Adam(vocals), Tony(drums), Charlie(guitar), and Steven(bass) all met each other at a young age, where they grew up together and became best friends. However, it wasn’t until high school that they decided to join together and start a band. They started a band together and played backyard shows for friends before parting off into handfuls of other projects. Adam and Charlie kept together and had a few projects with different members, while Tony bounced in and out of bands trying to find his perfect fit. The projects last a little over a year each before coming to hiatus’s. “many times at night, I’d sit there and tell myself that the perfect band for me to be in was my first band with Adam, Charlie, and Steven. We were all best friends, the music we wrote was perfect, and the chemistry between us couldn’t be replaced”, quotes Tony. “out of all the bands I tried out for or practiced in, non of the singers were better than Adam, a good singer is super hard to find, that’s the main thing that wouldn’t keep me happy in a band. So I’d just start searching for another band”.
At the same time, Adam, Charlie, and Steven, started another project and were going through drummers like crazy. Adam decided to give Tony a call and see if he was up for a new start. “It was pretty crazy, I sat there one afternoon questioning if I even still had a future in music, and all of a sudden my phone rings and its Adam asking if I wanted to get something going again. I told him I’d give it a shot and since then, we’ve being going all out and doing it as big as we can” finishes Tony.
The bands first show was set to be at Chain Reaction in Anaheim on May 7th, 2008. But one last minute phone call a week before ended up making Chain Reaction their second show. Another local band had a show in Las Vegas, Nevada and needed more bands, the offer was sent over to RHI via myspace and the band agreed and dropped everything and headed north to sin city that same day to play a show for the first time in the new line up.
“we didn’t care, why not? A show in vegas, where you know its gonna be nothing but people you’ve never met and haven’t heard your band yet is awesome. There’s no way we would of turned that down” says RHI front man Adam. “yeah, its pretty cool because I don’t know of any bands that have their first show in another state then the one they live in, especially when their unknown, and not the side project from a famous musician” adds Tony. “we don’t care what show it is, what bands are playing, how many people there are….. We love being on stage. We’ll never turn down a show offer, unless we have personal events planned with family. But this town(La Puente, CA) isn’t big enough for us. The local scene is too small, we wanna play music all over the world and just have fun”.
