Influences: Otis Redding, Elvis Presley, Ronnie Van Zant, Billy Gibbons, Darrel Scott, Jerry Lee Lewis, David Ruffin, Delbert McClinton, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Ricky Scaggs..... there's really way to many to name them all. I was brought up in a home where there were many styles of music being played pretty much all the time. Being from the hills of eastern KY, my mother loved to sing along with the bluegrass and country music that was being played on the radio in that area. Being from Detroit and a drummer, my dad was heavily into motown, R&B and rock 'n roll. I loved it all! At a very early age I would sing with my mom through the day and play drums with the old man at night. I started playing guitar around the age of 13 or 14 and fell in love with it instantly. Soon I decided to take it to the next level and start a band, so that's what I did. We practiced our asses off nearly everyday after school in my parents garage and before we knew it we were playing shows with people like .38 Special, Ricky Scaggs, KY Headhunters, Ralph Stanley and even doing some that we were headlining. After highschool, I enrolled at Morehead State University in KY. Word got around that pretty fast that there were a couple of guys from the mountains that could play and they even played bluegrass. The president of the school decided that Morehead needed a traditional music group to travel and bring attention to the school. They offered to pay for a pretty good portion of tuition, so I became the lead singer/guitarist for the school's bluegrass band. I played bluegass festivals through the week and rocked out in the clubs on the weekends. The school gave me the opportunity to share the stage with some of the biggest names in bluegrass. I moved to TN about three years ago when I decided that Morehead just wasn't the place for me. However, I still go back home to gig with my band Southern Storm pretty often. We have a great fan base throughout the state of KY and hope soon to have that everywhere. They are a great bunch of musicians and when we play, we are known to rock the hell out of it! Right now I am playing some solo stuff here in Knoxville through the week, playing with the band on the weekends and writing as many songs as I can. I want to be in "Nashvegas" within the year and focus entirely on my musical career. Until then I hope to gig as much as possible. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in booking myself or the band. Hope to see you at a show!
