About Me

You are The Lovers

Motive, power, and action, arising from Inspiration and Impulse.

The Lovers represents intuition and inspiration. Very often a choice needs to be made.

Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that's actually more apt than "Lovers." Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can't understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that the you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.

What Tarot Card are You?

My Interests

Writing, reading, cooking (I've been on a soup kick for three years), making useful things of wood, painting, gardening (though I am kinda lousy at it), hanging out with my hubby, hanging out with my dog, spending time with friends, shopping, talking, and laughing about all that is.

I'd like to meet:

My Dad's Dad, Howard Stern, J.K. Rowling, Chuck Palahniuk, Bob Villa, Neil Cavuto, Adelle Davis, Bill Murray, James Hetfield, Rosa Parks, Gloria Steinem, Ellen DeGeneres, Alan Colmes (so I could shake him until he stops asking WTF questions), Dr. Suess.

Music:

anything passionate or fun: Indigo girls, Shakira, Sara McLaughlin, Rob Zombie, Donnovan, Pantera, Cat Stevens, Alice in Chains, LedZepplin, Dusty Springfield, GunsNRoses, the Nields, Alannis, Metallica, Simon&Garf...

Movies:

Elf, The Wedding Singer, Shawshank Redemption, Usual Suspects, SUPERTROOPERS, Royal Tannenbaums, Life Aquatic, Harry Potter, Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil - the book was amazing; Fight Club - this book was also mucho better than the movie (book by Chuck Palahniuk; read his others, too - holy smokes); High Fidelity (& anything (almost) with John Cusak -- Serendipity? Hated it!); The Three Amigos (still makes me laugh... "Will you kiss me on the veranda? "Okay, but I'd rather kiss you on the mouth.") American Beauty, The Pianist, Frankie & Johnnie, Groundhog Day, Matrix, Life or Something like it, Scrooged, ...and John Wayne Bobbit Uncut (just kidding).

Television:

Friends, MythBusters, and most things HGTV and foodNetwork; especially reDesign, Devine Design, Alton Brown, and Paula Deen. I know, I live dangerously.

Books:

Anything by Martha Stewart - the serenity in the photos makes me happy. A Room with a View (E.M. Forster), Great Expectations (Charles Dickens), Bridget Jones's Diary (Helen Fielding), A Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood) Fight Club (Chuck Palahniuk), Lullaby (Chuck Palahniuk, and as he puts it, "It makes Fight Club look like Little Women."), Survivor (Yes, him again. Read all of his stuff, I'm telling you. You're welcome.). Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil (John Berendt) , The 10 Things You Can't Say in America (Larry Elder).
