"Future of the New South"

About Me

Every verse discusses his reputation for passionately stating his opinion and backing the way he feels, saying that the reason he elicits such a strong reaction from everyone is, "Because I’m me. I am who I am, flaws and all. And I’m not apologetic for who I am, and I’m not going to be. It’s just not me. I have no desire in life to be unhappy, and I can only be happy if I accept myself for who I am and what I am, strengths and weaknesses. I’d rather be held in contempt for the person I am than loved for the one I am not.

The Story
The path of The Next Big Thing was set in motion in 1998 while attending Justin F. Kimball High School in Dallas TX. During four years of high school this young promising artist teamed with several underground groups, and developed a substantial following within many hip-hop circles. After high school, at the age of 18, Suave became affiliated with Power Houze Records. While remaining unsigned throughout his 2yr. tenure with the Dallas-based label, the young lyrical phenom attained a more widely extended underground fan base due to his global songwriting ability and ingenious wordplay. While composing and co-writing various songs for many of the labels artists and clients Suave also embarked upon his own solo career recording and writing a sizeable catalog of material and in 2003 released his 1st mix tape entitled: Underground Terrorist.
Suave went on to debut a series of underground mix tapes entitled: suave-vs.-? Set to revolutionize the way the south is represented in hip-hop, Suave made it his objective to unleash his unique style of verbal expression to anyone who is willing to listen. Each release, which to date include Suave-vs-Timbaland highlighted The Mayor of Oak Cliff performing to signature, classic instrumentals from the industries hottest producers. While the internet community accepted the original concept with open arms the streets of Dallas, TX. posed a different challenge to overcome. Therefore, Feeling the need to create an outlet for artist such as himself Suave initiated the Artist Development clique shortly after the start of 2002 and later in 2003 created a group concept known as the City Council, proclaiming himself the Mayor of his widely respected Oak Cliff neighborhood. With his new found creative persona Suave went on to release two of his most widely accepted underground projects to date, Repeat Offender and Grand Theft Audio. During Suave’s mix tape campaign he has been able to garner the attention and approval of many industry veterans, including Lil' Flip, E-40, O.G. Ron-C, DJ Drama, and Michael “5000” Watts to name only a few.
The “5th Element” spent the greater part of 2005 compiling his underground-cult following with mix-tape releases, cutting edge production from a slew of Dallas finest instrumentalist, and a laundry list of almost two dozen feature appearances. 2006 Ended with a bang for this underground terrorist, when he released his most acclaimed mix tape to date, Campaign Trail Vol.1 hosted by the Tech Sons DJ Squad. Suave used this newly acquired platform to go on another lyrical tear showing the world that while his affiliations may have grown his objectives have not changed.
2007 proved to be the “breakout” year for the City Council’s Commander in Chief. Suave to date has racked up appearances on almost fivr dozen U.S. and International Mix tapes earning the title of “Future of the New South” from “The Carolina King” DJ Chuck T. Now the “Ink Pen Pimp” has focused his energy on the two-man group project Dirty Rotten Skoundrelz, the release of the highly anticipated Campaign Trail vol.2 Hosted by Noize Mob’s DJ Chuck T, as well as his solo debut: The Next Big Thing; and the plan for Suave Cena is to parlay his undeniably appealing character and remarkable song-writing ability into a successful reign as Raps next Megastar.
