Following a tumultuous and depressing childhood, Natasha Romanova eventually became one of the Soviet Union’s operatives during the Cold War. Collectively known as the Black Widow, she worked closely with the Russian government for decades, and her deadly services were retained even after the fall of the Soviet Union. After Iron Man defeated Black Widow in battle, she became an ally of him, traveling to America and joining his newly assembled Avengers team. She stayed with the team for a while, before pursuing a solo career and becoming romantically involved with the masked hero, Daredevil. Although she is more notorious for her career as a Secret Agent and alliance with Daredevil, Natasha is a valued member of both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers. She has also spent time working closely with the Champions, an attack force team located in Los Angeles. Natasha Romanova remains one of the world's most accomplished hand-to-hand combatants, and is quite possibly the most skilled espionage agent alive, still in high demand with S.H.I.E.L.D. During the events of the Civil War, Black Widow had no problem registering her identity with the Government. At the conclusion of the war, she was invited to join Ms. Marvel's newly formed team the Mighty Avengers, and is an active member of the Fifty State Initiative.

Powers and Abilities

Black Widow was injected with an experimental super-soldier serum in her youth and as a result, almost completely stopped her aging process upon reaching her mid to late twenties. The serum also boosted her physical condition to peak levels, making her an exceptional fighter. She is a master martial artist, an expert markswoman, a natural actress, an infamous seductress, and a gifted veteran spy. She carries assorted firearms and various miniaturized tools and weapons. She also uses metal bracelets that contain both the "widow's line" which fires her cable, and the "widow's bite" which releases electric bolts to stun her opponents. Her gloves and boots are equipped with miniature suction cups which enable her to cling to surfaces.
