FASHION DESIGNER : ANNIE THU NGUYEN ( A.K.A NG ANNIE)
Annie Thu Nguyen (a.k.a. NG Annie), is a young Fashion Designer who’s inspired by nature, architecture and spirituality, giving her a new and fashionable, contemporary style.
It all begin in 1981 when NG Annie was only 3 years old: she began to draw stick figures in the sand of her front yard and arrange dolls’ clothes on them. At the age of 14 NG Annie’s first runway show took place in her freshman year of High School. NG Annie won awards hosting several charity fashion show between the ages of fifteen and twenty-one, while she was attending FIT in Manhattan.
NG Annie won the Critic Award endorsed by George Saymen, the originator of the ragging sleeve.
“The most memorable runway show that I have had so far is when I won the Critic Award at the Fashion Institute of Technology in my senior year in Spring 2003 for the theme “Bird of paradise,” because that was the first of my runway shows that my mother attended: this led her to accept my passion for fashion,”
NG Annie works for such well known companies as Liz Claiborne, George Simonton, NG Fashion and Impression, and also as a freelance artist for movie stars and brides, also winning various pageants. NG Annie’s designs have been shown at many fashion shows all over the USA, in such locations as America Smart in Atlanta Georgia, The Las Vegas in Nevada, the Dallas convention center in Texas, at the Baltimore fashion week in Maryland, and in New York, New York. Recent invitations have also been made to participate in shows in Boston, New Jersey, Texas and California.
“Everything I do is from my heart and soul: I believe fashion can’t simply be summed up as expressions of modernity, difference, fashion awareness, or the need to fit in, but that it’s also a more private method of expressing confidence of spirit, comfort and love. I enjoy watching people be happy through inspiration by my outlook on everything that has happened in my life. I observe Fashion, touch it, feel it, see it, consider it, and then share it with others by designing a beautiful style to help build confidence. When you are confident, you have perseverance, and perseverance brings you success and ultimately happiness; this is what is important in life. I design for cosmopolitan women who feel desirable and who strive for beauty day and night.”
Despite having put on show after show, and fulfilled job after job, she is proud to have been sponsored for 41 contestant opening scene dance dresses for Miss Vietnam Global 2007, for which she personally designed a Vietnamese Modern Ao Dai (Vietnamese Modern Long Dress), Evening gown and dance dress for the Miss Vietnam global winner, whom she also sponsored.
