"...EZ Tiger's music is more Clash than Sex Pistols, in fact it's not all the far from power pop, albeit, with much rougher edges and more inventive arrangements. These songs have finesse and are accessible...plenty melodic enough to work on soundtracks or get a few TV placements." — Dean Moore, Music Connection Nov 2010 Issue 11 .....
"The self-titled debut album from EZ Tiger has everything one could want or expect from a rock album: infectious rhythms, excellent vocals (and backing vocals), interesting and moving lyrics. On top of it, this band has heart." - Michael Doherty, Suite101.com 10/27/10......................................
"...the tunes were well crafted /// these women put on a good show /// EZ Tiger's music is incredibly enticing." -Michele McManmon, LA Indie Music Examiner 10/19/10
EZ Tiger is female power trio from Los Angeles, CA, who joined forces in early 2008. Missouri native, Kristy McInnis, and Southern California born and raised, Tina DiGeorge, met in the Silverlake music scene and became good friends before becoming bandmates. Each had performed/recorded around town in other projects. DiGeorge fronted The Simpletons and her solo projects, releasing 2 independent records of her own. McInnis drummed for The Delphines and The Randies, among others. Original bassist, another SoCal native, Tina Pascual, was also a good friend of both and was playing with DiGeorge in her solo project, when their drummer couldn’t make a gig. The Tina’s put in a call to Kristy to fill in. The three had so much fun playing together, they stuck together and after trying out monikers for several months, EZ Tiger was born. ( beating out Half-Chinese Thigh Collective and The Shit-fires among others). The three were dedicated and passionate about the music, but it never seemed like work because they were having such a blast. After several months of rehearsing and gigging, the group created a multi-layered, melodic and driving sound led by DiGeorge’s unique songwriting. DiGeorge would bring in songs, then together, DiGeorge, Pascual and McInnis would craft the songs to complete fruition, creating a richly, captivating sound. Some have compared them to The Pretenders, Paul Weller, Bob Mould, Neil Finn, Elvis Costello, PJ Harvey, The Smiths, Strokes, and early Who. ( especially the Moonesque drumming of Kristy McInnis ).MEETING PRODUCER, SCOTT BENNETT
During one of EZ Tiger’s first performances at Taix Lounge in Echo Park, CA - they met producer and musician extraordinaire Scott Bennett (Brian Wilson, Liz Phair, Flaming Lips). Bennett was there supporting another musician friend who happened to be on the bill before EZ Tiger. He was blown away by the groups chemistry and originality. After the show, he expressed interest in producing the band’s first record. They exchanged information and stayed in touch. Even though they weren’t looking for one, they couldn’t have found a more talented and brilliant producer. A few months later, the band went to work with Bennett laying down tracks at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles. Over the next two years, between Bennett’s session and touring work with Brian Wilson, they would eventually complete 10 tracks for their self-titled debut. During those 2 years, the band would kid about the fact that they were often bumped by Brian Wilson. They would have a session scheduled with Bennett and he would have to re-schedule due to his work with Wilson. The band didn’t mind though, because the session results with Bennett were so amazing; his creative contributions were invaluable. The band deeply respected his talents; as he can play any instrument and sing any note known to man. He was an incredible asset to the band’s development.NEWEST ADDITION
In the summer of 2010, after recording was completed, EZ Tiger found a new bass player. Enter the superbly-talented bassist, Anna Rosales from El Paso, TX. Anna moved to Los Angeles in 2007 and submerged herself in the music scene, quickly becoming a sought after player and collaborator. When Pascual left to pursue other interests, EZ Tiger snatched up Rosales. Tina and Kristy knew it was a no-brainer. Anna was a trusted friend and respected musician, often attending EZ Tiger shows. The choice was natural and immediately injected the band with an exciting and unstoppable energy.EZ Tiger’s self-titled debut will be released October 19th, 2010. Touring plans coming soon.
