SFORZANDO!
Hope
-On paper,a mix of bleeding heart emo and post rock might sound likely. But if you truly listen to both genres separately, it'd be hard no to notice the similarities between the guitar figures employed in both genres. Hence, it's quite a surprise to see that only in 2008 does a band appear on the scene here in Malaysia employing the tactics of both the aforesaid genres. This five-song debut EP is quiet something; if this was released about four or five years ago, Sforzando! would probably get a lot more fanfare than they're getting now since even the hippest post rockers back then weren't ashamed to admit a liking to emo bands like Mineral. It's a shame that Hope is released now as it's pretty good, even to someone as unimpressed with post rock as i am-
