What started off as a hobby and a 100$ keyboard, Virginia Native, James (The Brain Surgeon) Wood, found a deep love for producing music. Influenced by the early days of hiphop listening to Jay-Z, Biggie, Nas, Tupac and Dr. Dre, James teamed up with an early childhood friend, Jayrod, and began producing mixtapes for their school. Once in high school, James began honing his skills as a battling emcee. After numerous victories from anybody in the neighborhood and other local high schools, He began creating a buzz for the duo which helped market their own productions.Through the influences of Dr. Dre, Timberland, The Neptunes, Will I Am, and Just Blaze, they began creating their very own sound which was more of an orchestrated-In-Your-Face type beats which caught the attention of local multimedia networks and so started their early careers. With such a diverse taste for music and talent to score independent films and tv shows, as well as their own mixtapes, they created a market for themselves working with other artists in the area. When things are too good to be true, they are usually right. July 30 2007, a day that will surely go down in the history books of James' life, suffered an arrthemia attack that turned to cardiac arrest which took his life. Through the good graces of God, he was giving a second chance after being declared dead for 5:36 minutes and 7 difibulating shocks to the chest, woke up in a hospital and transported to emergency open-heart surgery. There he stayed in the hospital for 15 days. Giving him the time to pray and understand what he was put on earth to do...Confused about what to do but still hungry for his dream as a producer, he decided to take a break from what he thought of as a promising career and moved back with his family in Tampa Fl to recuperated. Not giving up of course and keeping in contact with his friends and co-producer Jayrod, decided to work some jobs saved up and bought top-of-the-line production gear that fueled his drive to continue his dream. Within a months time of moving to Fl in January of 2008, James crossed paths with the talented engineer/songwriter/producer of Crystal Blue Sound Studios (www.cbpro.net) Dominick Pages. Now getting his feet wet in engineering and spreading his wings as a producer working with artist of all genres, this helped James become professionally skills in the vast area of music production. Along the way met up with CEO of Ridin' Dirty Music Group (RDMG) Mike and teamed up with an old friend and fellow artist Bogey. Through this label it gave James the opportunity (and nickname "Brain Surgeon" for his engineering skills) an outlet for his productions and armed to the teeth with plenty of talented artist. Working as a BEAT FANATIC producer for the RDMG label, producing and songwriting with Crystal Blue, It's only a matter of time before hard work pays off and turning an almost once forgotten dream into a reality....
