About Me

-------------------------------------

Beast With a Gun originally formed when travelling drunk Pigmeat Johnson met Joseph Egypt while both on community service, where young Joe was playing Johnny Cash songs in a retirement home for war criminals. Forming an instant musical bond, they stole a cheap drum kit from a child, recruited former hitman Kruger Luger to play it, and proceeded to create a racket the likes of which the drowsy hole of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk had never before heard.
Nor, largely, wanted to hear. As the duo of Pigmeat and Egypt made their debut at a local battle of the bands (Kruger Luger having been in hiding from the police), the reaction to the band's apocalyptic rendition of Hasil Adkins' She Said, among many other sloppy but soulful garage punk originals, was a mixture of the frenzied approval of a handful of people along with the confused revulsion of the majority and the organisers.
One of those present at the show, and very much part of the former group, was local priest Lynch Watson. The sheer force of the musical explosion with which he was confronted that night compelled him to give up his trade, pick up a guitar, and proceed to lead a new lifestyle of rock and roll and abusing small children.
Beast With a Gun proceeded to make a name for themselves on the local scene with their pioneered tactic of 'guerilla gigging': they would invade the stage of pub bands, wrestle their equipment from them, and then start playing until the police turned up.
Recently, after one such performance at a mental institute, they made acquaintance with an inmate, Ben Braten, who turned out to be a professional bass player. The band broke him out of the asylum to make use of his musical expertise. This leads to the current lineup, which is still prone to fluctuating between two and five members at any point -- but don't worry, there will always be a lineup.
The men in white coats came for Braten during one manic Ipswich gig, and Beast with a Gun will presently be continuing as a three(ish)-piece. After negotiations with the asylum, however, it has been agreed that Benjamin will be allowed free to play with The Gutterboys, but not without a seperate stage surrounded by an armed police guard.
Update: The Death of Kruger came as a shock to us all. A Kebab shop fire ended his life and all that was found was his charred corpse. No 100% id could be made as the corpse's teeth and fingers were missing. And besides his regular dentist had earlier that day choked to death on dental floss... However it had to have been Kruger as his wallet, passport, birth certificate, drivers license and a short poem entitled "Me am Kruger" were all found strangely untouched by the kebab shop inferno in his left hand. Some say that he's alive and well living in Bogota... But it is alas false hope.
Looking for replacements we came to a Carnivale freak show hidden in the depths of the Blue Bayou. We paid 10 dollars for their sideshow geek, Klaus Schnell, who lived life in a cage, drinking 24/7 and biting the heads off live chickens (compulsory for any Beast with a Gun member). Of drumming with Beast with a Gun Klaus remarks "It is twice as fun as being a sideshow Freak... But also twice as humiliating!"
