If there's one word that best describes me, that would be the word "quirky." I'm a real nerd, especially when it comes to music and computers. In college, I majored in music.
I currently work as a helpdesk technician. Honestly, I'm not sure what my exact title should be nowadays. I'm probably the equivalent of a Tier 3 technician. They have me working on all sorts of stuff, but primarily developing the call center's knowledge database and helping out with network engineering. It keeps me busy, but I enjoy it. Sometimes, I get temporary part-time jobs, mostly from former employers who need my help. I've got such a great work ethic that I've been called a super hero, a superstar, and a machine. The Swedish Chef (from Robot Chicken) would see me and mumble "work work work work work..."
On the side, I work on writing music. I have opened up a music artist account on myspace.com (http://www.myspace.com/laurachick) and I have some tunes available. They're still in the pre-demo stage, so the production kind of sucks, but it gets the general idea across, so it's all good. I am taking guitar and voice lessons. I've played some of my songs at a few open mike shows and plan to participate in more. I also belong to the Songwriters' Association of Washington (SAW) and help out with the website.
I am a nice person, perhaps too much for my own good. I'm really easy-going and have a friendly sense of humor. I am rather shy and introverted, but I also like socializing and meeting new people. At least some of the time, I can be ridiculously shy. Some people might also think that I'm way too excited/energetic/nervous. A coworker once asked me how many cups of coffee I drink & thought I was lying when I told him it was only 2. Ok, so maybe I had 3 that day.
