In February 2008 Edward Barlow, Daniel Bailey and David Hughes got together in a draughty practice room attached to the girls’ boarding house at St Peters School, York where they played through some initial song ideas. After a couple of rehearsals together a set was beginning to form and the band had begun to find their direction.
After a well received gig at the Basement Bar in York, the band started having more regular practices. Gigs soon followed at the York 'Fibbers' Barfly supporting the likes of Flamboyant Bella, Twin Atlantic, and the Days. With a very strong local support, the band were asked to play their first gig at The Duchess, a newly opened live music venue in York, in December 2008.
On New Years Day 2009, the band recorded their second demo of “Long Road Home†currently on the myspace. Lead guitarist, Ian Garner, joined the band shortly before recording and played on the “Long Road Home†track.
Almost immediately after this Lights in the Sky played their first headline gig at Fibbers, York. Since then the band have performed regularly headlining Fibbers again and, more recently, also topped the bill at The Duchess.
After a brief hiatus whilst singer Edd completed his A-levels the band are back, with a new bass player, Nathan Green, and are booking gigs from July onwards. The band also plans to record a several more songs during July through to the end of 2009.
