Nicky LawrenceBiography26year old, Toronto-born singer/songwriter Nicky Lawrence, put her ethic of hard work into gear while she was still in her teens. She sang back-up vocals for Ivana Santilli at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Curb Records recording artist Kaci, Universal Music Canada's music project "Popstars: The One", Canadian recording artist Carlos Morgan and studio demos with Sony Music Canada recording artists Prozak.Things started to shift into a higher gear when Nicky started singing at House music events in Toronto such as those promoted by 52 Inc. and Garage 416. Nicky also sang at the book launch party to celebrate the biography of renowned MuchMusic VJ Master T in 2002. In 2003 Nicky took over as the lead female vocalist for Toronto's White Cowbell and toured Canada's west coast in February and played Austin's SXSW Conference in March.On top of all this, Nicky is currently collaborating with a variety of Toronto-based songwriters, including Meher Steinberg (Edwin) Ron Lapada (Jacksoul) and David Leitao (with whom she wrote "Dreamer") and new underground producer extraordinaire, Danny K.Nicky's musical influences range from tile R&B of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to rock/soul of Tina Turner. "Right now, I'm listening to a lot of U2 , Nikka Costa, AC/DC, Sade, Jill Scott, and Lewis Taylor.""Dreamer", on Diaspora Recordings (UK) was Nicky's first commercial 12" vinyl release. It hit the streets in March 2004 and includes remixes from Frankie Valentine. Tile song has already sparked early interest having appeared in 2003 on the "Honey Drops" compilation distributed by Maple Music in Canada and in tile Showtime television production "Queer As Folk".
