The City Ignites have from far been resting since they formed in early June 2008. The Devon based band describe themselves as being somewhere between Indie and Alternative Rock. The combination of the catchy yet prickly guitar riffs and addictive husky vocals will send a shiver down any music lovers spine. The attitude, poise and well lived-in voice will stun any on looker at 30 paces. The debut track 'keep it safe' is only a taster of what is to come from these fast moving young individuals.

'The city ignites have set themselves in the current crop of up and coming shoegaze indie bands, with excellent atmospherics and build ups, the 4 songs on their myspace brim with potential. With nods towards bands such as Colour / Minus the bear and local faves Swimteam, guitars are interestingly both acoustic and mathrock tapping. The vocals fit nicely with a mature style that is different to a lot of other acts in this genre, maybe giving them a headstart in the industry, which with the credit crunch, will see a lot of bands diasperate into nothingness. If the city ignites play their cards right, they will sail out the other side triumphant and onward to bigger things. Each song threatens to burst out with quirky time signatures and breakdowns a la 'meet me in st louis' but never quite gets there, maybe a bit more tenacity would make their sound something to be truly reckoned with. But don't get me wrong, the city ignites currently tower above a lot of the bands I've heard recently, and clearly have the foundations of a strong individual sound. watch this space....'
