Ulli Buth has been making music all her life. According to her mother, she could read sheet music before she could read one single letter. Classical piano lessons from the age of 5 were soon followed by violin lessons as well as trying out all kinds of string instruments like guitar and mandolin at the campfire in her Scout group. She played in orchestras, jazz bands, folk groups and rock bands, sang in choirs and led groups to success at a nationwide singing competition. She’s played for audiences from 3 to 10,000, in small pubs as well as on big festivals. All the while, she never stopped learning new things and taking in new influences.
Currently, she plays the fiddle and sings with the folk group Eamon’s Daughter, regularly plays the guitar and sings in a bluegrass band at the Hamburg bluegrass session and is putting up an acapella group. But her focus lies on developing a solo program which will feature a variety of songs and tunes from folk and bluegrass – just her and a bunch of instruments. Stay tuned for updates on her progress!
