About Me

I used to play with a local band "The Sexies" as Band Leader/Lead Guitarist/Vocalist/ Arranger/Songwriter. Some of our highlights include opening for Grammy Winners Hoobastank, winning some local competitions, Mosaic Music Festival 2009 at the Esplanade, corporate performances for Dunlopilo, NTUC, and National Youth Council, and 2008 and 2009 Countdowns at Boon Lay and Downtown East.
During my National Service, I worked as a session guitarist and vocalist in the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company(MDC) Combo Band. While there, I also was a member of the A Capella Vocal Ensemble for some months. Some of my job highlights included regular concerts with audiences in the thousands, a 2 day tour with the Combo Band in Brunei, and a 14 day tour in Rockhampton, Australia, with the whole company.
I have also played with ensembles such as jazz quartet Quartz, and fusion ensemble FusionAsia, the latter including local names as Ignatius Bong and Vicknes Veerapan, at Esplanade jazz events, and Sentosa's Jazz by the Beach. I have also played at the Mosaic Music Festival, an annual modern music event. As a sessionist, I recorded with Hong Kong artiste John Wong. I’ve also done session work with local producers Tat Tong and Roland Lim.
Currently I am an instructor at The Music Lab, and Assistant Conductor/Coach for the Catholic Junior College Classical Guitar Ensemble.
I have studied with Guitarists Shukor Abdul Jalil(Raw Energy) and George Hess(Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music), and I am taking private composition lessons with Composer/Arranger Jeremy Lum, who also lectures at Lasalle College of Music.
I am headed to Berklee College of Music in September 2009 to pursue a degree with dual majors Jazz Composition and Music Production and Engineering.
About the Pieces
FunkP was written, both lyrics and music, and arranged by me, with my good friends David Siow and Melvin Loh on Bass and Drums respectively. Keyboards, Guitars, DJ Scratching, Lead vocals and Harmony vocals and random shouts were tracked by me. The name of this song is supposed to be Chinese pun, Chinese people go think about what it means. This song was written to be set to a video which has yet to be completed, and i'll upload it here when it's done. The engineer for this song, who also played a big part in giving the song a bigger sound, was Roland Lim. (note: All synth-like sounds and scratching except the ambient washy sound in the bridge was done with a guitar)
