My life is a constant struggle between nature and technology, with technology winning out more often than not. My aspirations and ambition are geared toward being somewhat of a vagrant, but in reality I'm usually found behind a computer desk. "It's probably a generational thing", I tell myself as I watch weather patterns on my computer screen. A crisis of modernity, and all that.
As an added conflict, both my ego and selfless nature do their best to create cacophony in my brain whenever possible. I'm amazing and all, but that doesn't make me special. There are tons of amazing people out there, and it's mostly subjective anyway, right? I can, and most likely will, rationalize everything.
That's not to say I don't have sincere ethical concerns about the state of the world, though. It scares me that some people do not. Empathy is in more severe shortage than logic is, somehow. The idea that a person's worth could possibly be determined by success in society assumes a much different reality than that of Earth in the early 21st century.
