FRICTION NYC is a New York City and Philadelphia based music and culture site that curates and highlights NYC's independent music scene, visiting acts, and DJs.

Since September 2005, FRICTION has been on the forefront of the independent music scene in New York City and has featured shows with Crystal Castles, Fuck Buttons, Dan Deacon, Yeasayer, These New Puritans, Ghostland Observatory, White Williams, Vampire Weekend, Apes and Androids, Health, Land Of Talk, Annuals, A Place To Bury Strangers, and many others at venues including The Mercury Lounge, Sin-Ã©, Rothko, The Delancey, and The Music Hall of Williamsburg. The series has received media coverage from CMJ, Time Out New York, The L Magazine, KEXP Seattle, Sirius, East Village Radio, Gothamist, and Brooklyn Vegan, among others.
