Gravelly baritone Deacon Brown was born in Bangkok, Thailand. At the age of seven he moved to England and immediately started taking piano lessons. He is best known for his work with noisy new wave band “Amateur Ninja Club†and electro punk folk outfit “Pogâ€. His solo work primarily has his voice accompanied by a piano or an acoustic guitar. Deacon’s songs are dark and brooding, though not entirely without humour or compassion. He has displayed a penchant for traditional ballads, favours love, loss and religion as lyrical subjects and comparisons to Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Jason Webley and Leonard Cohen have been drawn. He is currently recording the first album of his solo works in Brighton.
