About Me

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------
Brad Hahn was born Bradley Michael St Peter (yeah, seriously...) in a Kansas City suburb in 1976. His formative years were heavily affected by cattle yards, mobile home explosions, 18-wheelers, frequent moves, and Dr Pepper. You know, the usual childhood traumas involving family members on fire and an overabundance of high fructose corn syrup. Brad is writing this in the 3rd person so you might think that someone else is actually writing a bio for him. Brad can't remember anything of note about his life from the ages of 7 to 17 except that he lived in Garden City, KS at 7 and in Fayetteville, AR at 17. Midwest doldrums, epic daydreams, and complete immersion in ridiculous fantasies comes to mind. High School sucked, of course (okay, okay, I've been informed that I had some good times in high school...I admit it)...
Brad married his high school sweetheart in 1996 (well, at least one good thing came out of Springdale High School). As luck or fate or perseverance would have it, this young marriage has survived to this day contrary to early predictions by ignorant outsiders...
In 1997, Brad finally bought a guitar to fulfill his 5th grade fantasy of becoming Guns N Roses (not just one member, the entire band except with Weird Al singing lead). He remembers hiding devil music from his mother from a very early age. Fortunately, there was no one around to teach him the evils of 80s rock guitar so he spent long nights teaching himself to play guitar and write songs. In 2000, he graduated from college and moved to Los Angeles to wreak mental and physical havoc on himself for 5 years. Along the way, he wrote some decent songs about self loathing, depression, and substance abuse despite the fact that he was having a really great time and wasn't actually depressed at all (Who knows, I guess it was the Southern Baptist upbringing...aren't all good church kids well practiced at the fine art of self loathing? I dunno) and managed to start the band Pleasure Seeking Animals which embodied everything that he wasn't...
As these things sometimes happen, Brad was awakened by an unexpected moment of clarity in January of 2007 and he promptly quit his band and began the process of rediscovering himself. Brad is enjoying the journey. Brad likes his new songs. Brad is also tired because it is late and he is not sure why he is on myspace at 1am for the second straight night. Tomorrow, Brad will wonder why he wrote this bio but will leave it up anyway. No, Brad is not drunk right now.
------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------- Brad Hahn plays folk music, but not quite. Brad Hahn plays country music, but not exactly. The former front man for the alt-rock band, Pleasure Seeking Animals, has taken his myriad influences back to his roots as an acoustic guitar playing troubadour and the style of the music is refreshingly hard to pinpoint as it meanders effortlessly among the hills and trees with occasional forays into dark alleyways. A feeling of hope underscores the existential journey through the fire and the failure and the folly and it all washes clean in the end. It's not country and it's not folk. It's Brad Hahn saying "this is me...the real me".
