Influences:
voodoocult was a thrashmetal/artpunk- project formed in 1994 by phillip boa (of the alternative/indie band phillip boa and the voodooclub) and bassplayer dave 'taif' ball (killing joke, barbara thompson). the project was especially notable for the reputation of all the participating musicians, heavily leaving their influences on the songs. all the musicians were very open-minded, creative forces of their own bands.
especially the "riffage" and the melting-pots of innovative metal/hardcore etc. of the band were way ahead their time: boa's cynical, self-ironic lyrics against everything phoney, predictable and conditioned in this life. plus dave ball's jazz-background (he worked for jazz-legends jon hiseman and barbara thompson) clashed with the genius guitarplaying of chuck, mille, waldemar and gabby. this topped by the wonderful skills of dave lombardo was preceeding the post-linkin'park-generation and made most of their work timeless and outstanding. the band released two albums, and disbanded in 1996 after the release of the second album and a tour, on very friendly terms, concentrating on their own bands.
