Rohin Khemani is a drummer/percussionist concentrating on original music and creative improvising. He performs on drum set, tabla and diverse percussion as a member of several ensembles and as a freelance musician based in New York City.Rohin's life in music began as a classical violinist performing in recitals from the age of six. He broke bows, set his violin on fire and began to play drums in his basement to the sounds of Fugazi, 60s Miles, and the Beatles. ...then he went to art school--twice. He has had the honor of studying with reknown musicians including Max Roach, Kenwood Dennard, Manu Katche, John Riley, Yusef Lateef, David Liebman, and most recently as a student of tabla virtuoso Pandit Samir Chatterjee.
