It all started in Joel's basement jamming out to sketchy covers of Red Hot Chili Peppers songs. Kane and Joels jam's under blacklight and jungle juice eventually branched off and evolved into the creation of some of the first Fancy Habits songs. In April 2008, Ryan and Paeton joined forces with the song writing duo and "Fancy Habits" was born. The four of us now had a few originals under our belt and the determination to make a name for ourselves. Our first show together proved to be successful as we nabbed top spot in our high school Battle of the Bands. Things seemed to be off to a very good start for us, until unexpectedly, due to conflict of interests, Paeton and the band parted ways.
Feeling as though thier momentum was lost, Ryan, Joel and Kane set out to find a new vocalist. After a few prospects were considered, long time friend, Taylor Bast was selected as the new frontman. Again, the band started with the new vocalist on a great foot as we ventured into summer '08 with a positive outlook, but as time went on, tension between the band and our frontman took its toll. Going into the fall of '08 Taylor quit Fancy Habits, and again the band was without a singer.
Things were not looking good for Fancy Habits when winter came along. Still without a vocalist, the band lost its drive and deceided to take a break. In January of 2009 Fancy Habits found their missing piece to the puzzle. Scott Smith filled the spot as Fancy Habits' new vocalist, the band revieved a jolt of life once again.
Today, Fancy Habits is going stronger then ever. Entering the summer of 2009 with an EP recently recorded, the Band has established themselves as a powerful, stright-up Rock & Roll band, known across Alberta. The Band is always looking to the future and is ready for whatever the music scene will throw their way. We look forward to playing in a city near you!!!!!
