About Me

In the northwestern region of Nicaragua lays a farming epicenter where multinational giants and industrialized farming practices dominate. As in many developing countries, a lack of regulatory enforcement has allowed agrichemical companies to gain otherwise lost profit by exporting their E.U. (European Union) and EPA- banned products to these nations. Since the start of the, ‘Green Revolution’, Nicaragua’s farming regions have been assaulted by pesticides, herbicides and insecticides. These practices have led to enormous environmental contamination. This region is experiencing what leading epidemiologists have referred to as, “a veiled genocide.” Workers and the general population endure a multitude of illnesses including cancers, birth defects, sterility, and epidemic kidney failure. Sadly, this is far from an isolated problem, it is the macabre reflection of a global disaster.
