About Me

The best way to find out about me is my blog, which I post to often as I write to keep myself sane. I call myself a Christian because I believe in Jesus' divine mandate to Love, but I do not agree with condemning gays as some of the coolest people I know are gay. As a Universalist I also believe in the inspiration of many religions. I am a father, and a scientist. I like figuring out how things work. I agree with the political ideologies of Thomas Jefferson and John Locke, and I am a US patriot because I love the government my founding fathers envisioned even though most conservatives in our current government don't. (I do take issue with the fact Thomas Jefferson "owned" slaves despite it contradicting the constitution he largely created. I also take issue with the fact he had a child with a slave that he refused to acknowledge.)I say "I do not believe most conservatives respect the government our founding fathers envisioned" because they consistently make legislation based on their religious preferences, which is unconstitutional. Another problem is people like George W Bush claim they are in office because "God wanted them to be". This is both unconstitutional and anticonstitutional. Our constitution clearly states our government is to be elected by the will of the people not because some self-righteous--or devious--person claims God told them to tell everybody else what to do and how to live. The constitution clearly states it is illegal for anyone to make themselves a dictator of this country, but George W Bush has said, on film, that "a dictatorship would be easier". "Easier" for him we have to assume because I can't imagine it being easier for most of the rest of us. The ban on gay marriage is also a violation of our constitution and another example of self-righteous people trying to force their religion on other members of our society, and violating our constitutionally assured right to freedom of religion--including the rejection of the conservative Christian religion. Our constitution is supposed to protect us from a majority in our society oppressing a minority with greater voting power. Many conservatives are unwilling or unable to respect this fact, and are constantly passing unconstitutional laws that make US society, as far as government goes, extremely oppressive at times. We are supposed to be assured of liberty by our constitution but many conservatives are unable to keep their values to themselves. The scientific and medical communities have both stated that marijana should be legal for medical purposes because it has a myriad of medical benefits we are only beginning to understand. Both AMA and more recently Scientific American (one of the most respected scientific publications in the word) have state that marijana both has recognized medical value, but also has a myriad of potential medical benefits we have not even been allowed to explore because of Regean's war on drugs. (People, not unfeeling chemicals, are the victims of this war.) The US governments drug schedualing system, which is itself unconstitutional, states that for a drug to be considered a schedual I drug it must fulfill two criteria: 1)It must have a high potential for abuse. 2)It must have no known medical value.Scientists and doctors have been telling Washington for years that marijana does not have a high potential for abuse, but also has medical value. That is the experts are telling Washington the facts, and Washington is refusing to listen. There is no profit for Washington in pot legalization, but it is very profitable for it to be illegal. A drug that is very profitable to Washington, Nicotine, has been medically proven to have both a high potential for abuse and have no known medical value. The reason Marijana is illegal and Tobacco is legal is that Washington, and lot of other greedy people our society make a lot of money keeping it that way. I am not saying we should make Tobacco illegal. There are more than enough unconstitutional, oppressive laws on our books already.I reject the notion that gays are immoral because, while heterosexual myself, I have been blessed to meet a lot of very cool gays, and a lot of very uncool straights. The question of whether gays should be able to marry is not one that the heterosexual majority can vote on in the US--if we have any respect for our constitution--because our constitution states that if the behavior of another person does not effect us directly it is none of our business. What two consenting adults willingly do together is their right, and their business. A gay couple deserve the same rights and protection of law that any couple deserves. Love does not need to follow a "conventional" pattern to be love.I love all life, and, by extension, I am into ecology.I have a BA in psychology from WSU. I enjoy short-curiuting my phisiology with chemicals at every possible opportunity.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Cool people: People guided by compassion, people who live by conscience, and people who think and think for themselves. Roger Waters, Dave Chappelle, Bill Gates, Bono, the Dali Lama, Maynard James Keenan, The Wachowski Brothers, Paul Davies, Kenneth R. Miller, Brian Greene, Eddie Murphy...and many others I do not know yet, so I don't even know I want to meet them...

This picture describes exactly how I feel about the Messiah, and His Endless Love and Compassion for all life.

The two most important things a person can do is to love God and Love other people. -Jesus the Messiah-

Anyone who claims to love God but Hates people is a liar. -the apostle John-

God is Love. -the apostle John-

I will never reject anyone who comes to me. -the Messiah-

Now for a little comic relief...

I don't believe religion is based on exclusion as many ignorant people choose to believe. The endless Love and Compassion of the Divine can be seen in all of nature, and in all people. I love many of the teachings of Buddhism, as they have helped me grow in Love and Compassion.

Life is precious to all. Those who understand this Truth will neither kill or cause to be killed. -Buddha from the Dhammapada-

You enemies will never make peace in the face of Hatred. It is the absence of Hatred that leads to peace. This is an eternal Truth. -Buddha from the Dhammapada-

They will rob me, they will hurt me, they will embarrass me, they will defeat me. Those who think in such a way will never overcome their Hatred.

They will rob me, they will hurt me, they will embarrass me, they will defeat me. Those that do not think in such a way will overcome their Hatred. -Buddha from the Dhammapada-

They have robbed me, they have hurt me, they have embarressed me, they have defeated. Those who think in such a way will never overcome their Hatred.

They have robbed me, they have hurt me, they have embarressed me, they have defeated me. Those who do not think in such a way will overcome thier Hatred. -Buddha from the Dhammapada-

He's the man.

Gotta love Ghandi!
