About Me

I feel I was born with music in my ears as I’m sure some of you reading this would agree, and I was fortunate for my musical ears to be shaped by some of the best music the world has ever seen. That spans over so many genres but by my early teens I was blessed by the sounds of Hip-Hop that had been slowly evolving and being refined since its conception. At that time in the early nineties, the likes of Public Enemy to the sounds of De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest had passed my ears and I had truly fell in love. The truth in musical sounds as well as the words and lyrics touched my heart and most definitely my soul. This love continues through the nineties and there are many names I could mention that helped form me as a rapper myself and blossom my love for Hip-Hop. A bomb dropped for me at the turn of the millennium when I found it increasingly difficult to access true Hip-Hop. It seemed Hip-Hop as I knew it was fading and the commercialisation of this new music still oddly known as Hip-Hop was filled with too many rappers with no skills and too many of the same beats. It was like originality, truth, talent and soul was dead in Hip-Hop. I knew Hip-Hop itself was not dead cos all I needed to do was throw on the Midnight Mauraders album, regardless of the fact it was over 10 years old to tell me that!! But it did tell me that what was known as Hip-Hop at the moment was not Hip-Hop to me!I had to search for new musical fulfilment, needed the truth that I sourced in Hip-Hop and found myself getting more into the likes of Classic Jazz, Nu Jazz, Neo-soul, Soulful House, Broken Beat, Afrobeat and Latin sounds and more. The instruments, the soulfulness the use of words (when there were words) touched my soul and helped filled that void I had from not discovering true Hip-Hop of today. I now see that was my fault cos I lost my faith in Hip-Hop, so I went back to the drawing board. Was fortunate to champion true soul music as a deejay through RECLAIMING THE SOUL and I found myself finding new Hip-Hop. True Hip-Hop sounds. I fell in love again!“New pioneers of Hip-Hop are doing it right, so I feel its time for me to ignite a fight, be it peaceful and, we will ignite a night, bringing the true essence of Hip-Hop the futures bright”ARE YOU WIT’ ME??!
