Foreign and Forgotten Films

About Me

I've always had a love for creative expression--whether the art was music, literature or cinema. I especially appreciate good cinema because it contains the components of most, if not all forms of art. There's cinematography/photography, sound, writing, directing, editing, costume, location, acting...You get the idea. You get a story that requires the same creative process that has existed from time immemorial. I used to host a movie night at my house once a month. I'd invite friends over and show some of my quirky, avant garde, eclectic collection of DVDs. We always had a good time, enjoying snacks and discussing the film after its conclusion. I had suspended the movie nights for a short period of time while I dealt with some personal matters. One day during this time, while discussing the resumption of our monthly movie get-togethers with a friend, the idea of taking it to a public venue was raised. It sounded like a great idea--having movie nights at a local venue where the general public could come and enjoy some really great cinema, mingle, and discuss the film after. After discussing this idea with the owner of Urban Grind coffee house in Atlanta, a venue was provided. On April 4, 2008, we had the first "Foreign and Forgotten Films" event. The movies screened are artful, provocative, and sometimes controversial. "Foreign and Forgotten Films" occurs every 1st Friday. Please join us and bring a friend or two or three. Non-Atlanta residents, if you happen to be in town around that time, please come by and enjoy an evening of cinematic art.
