The Scurvy Bastards began in Paso Robles, CA sometime back in 2004 from the ashes of a former band, George and the Pirates. The fist lineup, then called (among many other names) The Mutineers consisted of Darkie O'Sullivan on vocals, Benny Bastard on guitar, Jake on bass, and Jordan on drums. After going through a series of name and lineup changes in 2005 the band settled on the name Scurvy Bastards, Jake, the former bass player was now on drums, and new member, Randy Bastard was now on bass.
In February of 2006 this new lineup entered the studio to record a 4 song demo. Also around this time they began playing frequently around central California opening for bands such as Naked Aggression, The Addicts, The UK Subs and more. In December of 2006 the band added a 2nd guitarist, Tristan. With this new addition they went back into the studio to record a 2nd demo as well as the track "Pirates Life" for local compilation "SLO and Dysfunctional vol.4". Shortly after the release of the compilation, Jake left the band, followed by Tristan, leaving only 3 members, and without a drummer.
After about a month of searching, Jordan Skinsticks (different Jordan from the original drummer) from local Atascadero, CA band Manifest Destiny agreed to fill in temporarily until a new drummer was found, however, upon realizing how much ass The Scurvy Bastards kick, he decided to stay on permanently. Since the addition of Skinsticks the band has been playing shows all over California, from San Francisco to Los Angeles with the likes of The Murder Junkies, Agent Orange, The Angry Samoans, The Smut Peddlers and more.
In March 2009 the bands lineup changed yet again. Due to personal tensions within the band James (darkie O'Sullivan) was relieved of his vocal duties. Skinsticks (currently going under the stage name J-Dog Bastard) moved up front to sing and was replaced on the drums by Edwin (Eddy Bastard, Dutchboy) cementing the bands 5th lineup in as many years.
