About Me
MySpace layouts for everyone
I'd have to say I'm enjoying life these days. My family and friends are all people that I'm proud to know and I enjoy spending time with. My day job allows me to be in different places every day & meet new people. The thing that really fills in the gaps though, is music. I played quite a bit when I was young, but drifted away for many years (job, life, etc.). I always told myself I'd start playing again and the Good Lord finally convinced me that I wasn't getting any younger. I became the soundman for the SquareOne Band and that was the spark that lit my fire. I started playing my bass again, dragging it to their rehearsals and getting a little time to jam with the guys. After a few months, I gathered up my courage to check out one of the local open jams. At that time it was hosted by the Larry Chambers band, which became VooDoo3. LC is sadly no longer with us, but his influence will always be felt. He was a great friend to all he knew and a gifted musician. I miss him, but I am very thankful to have known him.The open jams really opened my eyes.. I had a lot of ground to make up. With encouragement and some pointers from guys like Ernie Terrell, Reggie Upshur, CC Stewart (hey.. that's VooDoo3!), Dave Thrift, Scott Sutherland, Rob Ancum, Kim Mason, the list could go on and on, but the point is that I've been fortunate to get to listen, join in and learn. I played some gigs with Dave Thrift, an amazing guitarist and learned a lot from that experience. A couple of personnel changes ended up making a spot for me in the SquareOne Band, a great bunch of guys who really love music. I enjoyed my time with them very much and wish them all the best.I'm back with Dave Thrift Band again now, a power trio with a lot of energy. Matt Van Meter on drums brings some of the tastiest beats around, I lay down the low end with my Ocean 5-string bass (by Laguna Guitars) and of course, the blazing guitar of Dave Thrift. Remember his name, because he is a true virtuso.I know I've been rambling, so to wrap this up, I just want to say this.. Find what it is in life that makes you happy and do it. Our time in this life is always too short and we are meant to make the most of it.
