I am here for Friends

About Me

A notoriously clumsy English teacher, librarian, and school-supply fetishist, I am the quintessential nerd. Beneath the dorky veneer, I'm generally a friendly, open-minded, considerate person. Hobbies include sleep deprivation, over-analyzing things, caring for the myriad of pregnant and infirmed stray animals that keep appearing on my porch, co-founding imaginary yet enthusiastic bands (i.e., Rokkaholicka and Cap'n Crunk), and dabbling in various literary pursuits -- among them, composing sarcastic haikus about people who piss me off (to be published in an imaginary anthology entitled Seventeen Syllables of Snarkasm). I have been known to wreak havoc on the dance floor. I laugh and cry easily, and at times simultaneously. I abuse the snooze button. Sometimes I lack patience. I have nice handwriting. I probably talk too much. I fidget. I'm ticklish, generous, and punctually challenged. My "Iron Man" ringtone makes me downright giddy.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who get it. People with stories to tell. People who can laugh at themselves. People who have learned to integrate intellect and emotion. Whip-smart, funny-as-hell, creative people. People who think for themselves. People who possess insight, compassion, and depth. Sincere, tenacious people.

Who I don't want to meet:
I have little regard for the manipulative, judgmental, petty, hypocritical, pretentious, p-whipped, or image-obsessed. Also, if you are racist or homophobic, please stay away from me unless you're seeking enlightenment.

My Blog

"hot-blooded, check it and see... got a fever of 103..."

actually, it's 102. either way, i feel like doo-doo. incidentally, when i was little, i thought the lyrics were:"hot-blooded, chicken of the sea... got a fever of 100 degrees..." i thought it was abo...

word nerd

I was issued a challenge: to convert the word "beer" to the word "spit" by changing one letter at a time. (I can do this lameass trick with any two words, by the way... up to 5 letters, anyway.) beerb...

laura and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day

Of all the things that went wrong today (and believe me, there were many), this is the real tragedy. I adored this kid. He was a poet, a musician, an athlete. Funny and charming, he had a sly grin tha...

So my mom had my astrological chart done. This is a new interest for her, and she is very enthusiastic about it. So that's really cute to watch. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with...

my weapon is my air whip

I spent my whole vacation in a virtual coma, and now it's time to return to work tomorrow. And I can't sleep, of course... my nocturnal tendencies kicked in the very first day of winter break. Luckily...

happiness blows on me...

I've pretty much been in bed with a horrible flu since Sunday night. After 3 1/2 consecutive days of sleeping and drooling on myself and not holding down food, I found myself wide awake at 3...
