About Me

I'm 27 years old with a look that's all my own. Look into my gentle eyes and you'll know I would give a stranger the world to see them smile. I have short, spiky dark hair, big brown eyes, with a great tan from sitting out at the pool and playing in the water all summer long. Even when I'm in uniform working on an ambulance, I still find time to do crazy stuff to make people laugh. I'm crazy and I'm proud of it. Professionally? I’m 26 and have already been involved in the medical field for half my life. I had a very interesting childhood. I just began working at GNC selling vitamins and supplements. My experiences in the medical field seem to complement my job quite nicely. I grew up overseas in Germany, and am fully bilingual. I speak without an accent in both languages. I’ve seen and done more in my short lifetime than many people will in the course of eighty years. My father retired an E-8 (Master Sergeant) from the US Army in 1991, and was a member of the Golden Knight (US Army Parachute Team) during the late 1970s and a coach in the early 1980s. He also threw me out of the open door of an airplane when I was five years old. I don't have a fear of heights whether I'm 15 feet or 200 feet off the ground (and I can tell secrets on how to get up on freeway billboards because I've been up a few). I have a kind heart, a strong work ethic, and high expectations for myself. Even though I am still young in comparison to other professionals, I aspire to be more than what I am, and have set very high goals for myself. I have lived in the Houston area since 1991, and just moved to Pearland (south Houston). I'm a brown/red belt, depending on the curriculum of martial arts considered, and an instructor as well. I'm kind of a "mascot," since half of my junior students are bigger than me, and I am (by far) the smallest student in the adult class. By the way, it hurts a lot less when someone throws you THROUGH something, not INTO it, in case you're ever near a window or thin wall and standing next to someone twice your size that you just pissed off (long live safety glass!) It don't feel good until it hurts. Outside of work, I'm laid back with an easygoing personality and a very obscure sense of humor. I could run a mechanic out of a truck stop with an obscene comment. I walk around with my own style, defiant grin, and a wicked look in my eye (if you can see though the shades. There's a method to my madness, and a reason why my friends call me "Hollywood."

My Interests

I have a lifelong commitment to martial arts, which is elaborated upon in my blog to anyone interested in reading about how martial arts changed my life. I am proud of the level of fitness and talent I have developed in the last year. I have worked very hard to get here. I love to sing karaoke and have a knack for entertaining crowds. I never knew i could sing until I tried, but now I'm "Hollywood" to anyone who meets me at karaoke night. I also enjoy climbing rock walls, music, motorcycles, and am an adrenaline junkie from hell. You could cast me on Jackass and I would fit right in. Something about being thrown out of an airplane strapped to my dad's chest at the age of five has ruined my fear response. Isn't that the dumbest thing you ever heard?? I also like sci-fi, obscene stand-up comedy, a good meal, and great conversation over coffee. I play the drums and guitar, and love to play my Guitar Hero games and sing along. Call me a kid. I don't care! I also have a natural aptitude for music theory and rhythm--I can choreograph based on listening to a song and charting the rhythm of guitar, drums, vocals, and accents on a manuscript pad using musical notations. It helps in musical/creative forms. I can choreograph an advanced routine based on the knowledge of the how and what behind the movements and katas, even if I cannot do it myself, and the person who is an expert with the weapon can perform it based on what I've written down. Until then, rock on, and it's great to be me because I'm my own person and happy with who I am inside, and that matters to me more than having a thousand people who like what's on the outside.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who loves sports, martial arts, or who can get me in the door in the entertainment world~~ also Definitely other martial artists who enjoy teaching others, because I have so much to learn....Other people who have an avid interest in sports. I enjoy going to baseball, football, soccer, and especially hockey games. I love to skate and played hockey from the time I was 14 to 24. I also like baseball and softball and I love to play catcher, and I have a full set of catcher's gear. I guess I don't mind having objects hurled at me at 90 miles an hour if I'm wearing padding. Besides, I'm prepared for it... as many volatile relationships that I've been in.. I also enjoy climbing and belong to a rock gym. I want to find people who appreciate a good sense of humor and can be intelligent, quick witted, and sarcastic, and challenge me once in a while in a heated discussion. Someone who doesn't offend easily that appreciates the beauty of crude humor once in a while. Just good people. They come in all sizes, all ages, from all walks of life. I'm also looking to network out in the entertainment industry, with my experience as a singer (in and out of garage bands since high school), DJ (plenty of experience there!) and on-the-air entertainer. I've been singing karaoke for a while now, and have learned how to set up the audio and video systems on my own.CARPE DIEM, BABY!

Music:

The world is my stage! Music Rock and Roll, baby! Give me some Sammy Hagar, AC/DC, Steppenwolf, ZZTop, Def Leppard, Hendrix, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, and I'm one happy camper! I'm a guitarist, a drummer, and learning the ins and outs of being a lead vocalist (as well as singing harmony, back-up vocals, and ad-libbing lyrics). Who knew that getting drunk and stumbling onto a stage holding a microphone would get me so far?? It's better to burn out than fade away! To answer the question I know I'll be getting, it's an American Standard Stratocaster, a Gibson Epiphone Electric, and my drums are a standard 5-piece set by Mapex with a crash and hi-hat cymbal. I'm about to buy an Ibanex 24-fret 370, made for lead guitarists who love their solos way down the neck of their guitar! I love music, everything about it. I like to listen to the lyrics and analyze what they mean.... what was the artist thinking when he wrote this? The Ballad of Serenity from the television series “Firefly” is a beautiful melody, and when you think about what the song stands for and the premise of the show, it relates to overcoming the worst of challenges in real life and realizing that there’s always something left to admire. I also listen to some modern rock (Nickelback is a favorite), country, and some oldies… even rap music once in a while. Oh yeah, and nothing makes me happier than finding a good techno song with a dynamic beat that I can use for playing with my weapons. Try spinning around with nunchaku in each hand to Disturbed!!

Movies:

I normally watch a lot of comedy, but am a sci-fi junkie at heart. I like Star Trek better than Star Wars and sometimes wish I could live in those worlds. F-O- to anyone who makes a "Spock" or "T-Pol" comment about my short, dark brown hair...I'm not a f---ing Vulcan! For the record, I think Smokey and the Bandit and Blazing Saddles are two of the funniest movies ever created, and the The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the best epic I've ever seen. The Return of the King is my favorite movie of all time.

Television:

CSI, Law & Order, Enterprise, Star Trek: Next Generation, Babylon 5, Firefly, House, Scrubs (I get called "Perry Cox" all the time at work), Prison Break, Discovery Health Channel, Comedy Central, I also love stand-up comedy, have done a few amateur nights myself, and I love making others laugh. For some reason, it comes naturally.

Books:

I like martial arts books (instructional and theory both), mysteries, James Patterson, and Janet Evanovich. I also read the newspaper, but I think the media is biased and lack the real world experience to speculate on many of the opinions expressed in both television and the paper. Right now I am very intense on studying martial arts and have several books on the code of the Samurai and the rich history behind martial arts.

Heroes:

My dad is my biggest hero and my parents are my biggest fans. To add a side note to that, my dad is hysterically insane and comes up with the best stunts that would leave Jackass in the dirt, and my mother could run Satan out of hell muttering "...there goes the neighborhood." Demon seed and deviled eggs make a beautiful team--hey ma, look, it's ME! My dad retired an E-8/Master Sergeant after 21 years in the US Army, shortly after Operation Desert Storm. He was Special Forces Airbourne, trained in advanced skydiving techniques (by the way, HALO is a skydiving term that stands for "High Altitude/Low Opening." The game is named after HALO skydivers). My father belonged to and competed with the Golden Knights (the U.S. Army Parachute team) during the 1970's at the West Point Military Academy in New York, and shortly after I was born, returned to be their coach for five years in the 1980's. He has 6,000 career parachute jumps, and is well recognized in his field, holding several records in multiple-skydiver freefall formations and other various categories. My dad inspires my obscure sense of humor and knack for pulling off intricate pranks. He's exceptionally brilliant, and I've learned so many life lessons from him. Knowing that my parents stand behind me, even when I make mistakes, they inspire me to succeed in life, and to stand up for what I believe in. They tought me the meaning of good work ethics and high standards, and I'm working towards making my dreams come true one day. Although the choices I make are for me, if I could pick two people to make proud of me, it would be my Mom and Dad. Not to be forgotten, my heroes will always remain my brothers and sisters who stand alongside me serving the public proudly, as medics, firefighters, and peace officers. We might be crazy, but we care enough about other people to risk our lives to see that they are protected. 09/11/01: All Gave Some, Some Gave All. 343.
