Cara Elizabeth is an activist, promoting political awareness and social justice for all oppressed people through her art. She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, with a focus in painting, from MassArt in Boston in 2003. It was during these undergraduate years that she discovered her love for experimental animation and playing music. Cara Elizabeth continued her education in Los Angeles and received a Master’s degree in experimental animation at the California Institute of the Arts in 2007.Cara Elizabeth currently resides in Los Angeles where she dedicates herself to infiltrating American POP culture. She attributes her passion for justice and equality from her spiritual beliefs and her personal experiences as a survivor of sexual violence and abuse.
Cara Elizabeth’s mission is to deconstruct and reconstruct American POP culture by "cutting" out the heart of the mainstream. Her goal is to co-opt the cult of celebrity as a vehicle, and in doing so, unveil the inherent liesdirectly and indirectly taught to us through the media, our political leaders, and a distorted understanding ofour collective history as one human family. She forces the viewer to question and critique the politics of mainstream American commercial art, or "POP ART," by illuminating the contradictions and displaced priorities of a post-modern society on the brink of chaos.Cara Elizabeth possesses a unique way of preaching her message and art through diverse mediums; from creating her own music and guerrilla theater to producing a television pilot and designing interactive web content. She considers herself a pioneer among her peers, trying passionately to recreate a world of unified vision. Cara Elizabeth explains her message in simple and direct terms,"...What I preach is nothing new, I believe in peace and justice for all peoples and creatures. I only hope to help create a means for this way of thinking to become POPular, to subvert the status quo by hijacking the mainstream and making it my own."
