Hedera is the organic synergy of two experienced musicians who have as many differences as commonalities. Rachel, the vocalist and main songwriter of the band gained recognition in the 90's in Die Laughing . This is her first musical project since leaving the band, and the scene in 1999. J, who provides some drum programming and creative input into the song development has played drums in a number of bands and was the front man of Industrial group, Tracer.
With influences ranging from trad Goth and alternative metal through to EBM and martial industrial, Hedera is an eclectic mix of opposing and complementary forces. Formed in early 2008, the band aim to write and record material which embraces their experiences and takes inspiration from their respective musical backgrounds.
Three demo tracks are now available on this page which show the potential and creativity of the band. From the electronic yet haunting 'Alea Iacta Est' to the dance based fusion of 80's guitar and electro industrial in 'Devil Take The Hindmost', the band show their diversity and depth. The third track, 'Cry Craven' which weaves martial and orchestral sounds is a powerful stage on which one of the greatest battles is played out – the conflict within our own mind.
