Influences: Philip Ashley began his musical career as a
violinist. In 1970 he joined "L’orchestre des Jeunes de Montreal,"
After 12 years of
formal classical training, he
joined his first Progressive Rock band called
"Starless," heavily influenced by Genesis, King
Crimson & Yes.
Because of his
classical background and a particular interest in
harmony, Philip is able to play different repertoires.
He is in fact known to play almost any
style of music, and is familiar
with Italian, French, European popular music,
R&B, Light Jazz, Disco, Motown, Country, etc...
He is continuously expanding his musical
horizons, and has been invited to perform live
on theatrical productions such as "Liola’" with "Le Maschere" theatrical group, directed by Vincenzo Thoma.
Philip Ashley has performed and recorded with some well known
artists like Filippa Giordano on her album Prima Donna released in Latin America with Sony BMG and with Vincenzo Thoma in concert and on his upcoming album with Dell’Arte Musique/Universal/DEP
