This is not going to be your average, run of the mill, poorly written band bio. We’re not going to tell you we’re the greatest band in the world, or even in our home town. We won’t claim that our music defies being categorized or comapred to any other artist. We won’t even bore you with the long winded story of every band each of us has ever been in, or the life history of every member we’ve had over the past few years. We will, however, tell you flat out that we are an honest, hardworking, dedicated band that is hell bent on bringing our own brand of modern hard rock to your city with a vengence. If you like Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Three Days Grace, or Sevendust, you’d be hard pressed not to have a great time at a Something Like Seven show.
So then... what exactly can you expect at an SL7 show? There’s plenty of buzz words we could use here... "An intense, high energy live show." "Instantly memorable, sing-along hooks." "An intricately crafted, delicately interwoven, three-guitar-powered wall of sound." "A nearly endless supply of heavy grooves and catchy melodies that will have the crowd off thier feet the entire night." Sure, any of those would sum it up nicely. But, in the interest of keeping this bio free and clear of any unnecessary fluff, we’ll again go with the straightforward approach... At an SL7 show, you’ll see five guys who are the best of friends, pouring thier hearts and souls into what they love best: Playing rock songs for a few hundred of thier closest friends, night after night, city after city.
In 2006, Something Like Seven released "Prototype", the debut EP containing the four songs found here on our myspace page. "These are among the best if not THE best demos from a local band I’ve heard..." says Harvey Kojan, program director at FM99, WNOR. "The songs are uniformly solid and well-produced. They were obviously written with thought and produced with care, [and] the musicianship is solid as well." To date, we have sold nearly 1,000 copies of Prototype, predominantly here in our local area. We expect these numbers to grow exponentially as we expand our playing area to include the upper and lower east coast, and soon, the midwest areas of the country.
Currently, we are working on songs for a new full length album, due to hit streets this summer, which we plan to support by touring as extensively as possible. In the meantime, we’ll still be playing a few shows in the Virginia area from time to time, so by all means, catch us while you still can. Once we hit the road, there’s no telling where we’ll end up next.
