Emily Bigham has been playing music since the age of Six. With eleven years of training in the tradition of Western Academic Music. This includes six years of piano, four years with a Traveling Choir, and two years studying Violin under Marie Griffith. She began playing the Mandolin almost four years ago and has since studied under such mandolinist as Matt Flinner, Chris Thile (Nickel Creek, The Punch Brothers), Mike Marshall (Original David Grisman Quintet, Joshua Bell, Edgar Meyer, etc) Andy Leftwitch (Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder), Paul Glass, Tony Williamson, Jesse Cobb (Infamous Stringdusters, Mike Snider) and Ashby Frank (Alecia Nuggent Band). As well as performing her own shows, she has appeared with/played with such artists as The Waybacks, The Infamous Stringdusters, Mark Schatz and Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band). She recently traveled to the international Mandolin Symposium in Santa Cruz, CA, on a Scholarship awarded by the faculty of the symposium (David Grisman and Mike Marshall). She also owns and runs EttTone Productions, a musical production company out of Chattanooga, TN.
