THE BAND ORIGINATED IN 2007: IT STARTED WHEN THE YOUNGEST MEMBER LONDON PLAYED WITH THE BOMB, A LOCAL FAVORITE COVER BAND. LONDON WAS INTRODUCED TO JASON. HE TOLD US ABOUT HIS NEPHEW ZAC WHO PLAYS GUITAR AND SINGS SO WE EXCHANGED PHONE NUMBERS. ZAC CAME OVER TO THE HOUSE TO JAM WITH LONDON. THE NEXT PRACTICE COREY AND DYLAN WERE ADDED AND THE BAND WAS BORN. THE BAND (LIKE MOST) HAS GONE THROUGH A COUPLE OF TRANSITIONS. COREY AND ZAC LEFT AND OTHERS CAME AND WENT. PERLEY WAS ADDED AFTER LONDON AND DYLAN MET PERLEY AT A LOCAL TALENT SHOW THEY WERE ALL IN. MATT OUR NEWEST GUITAR PLAYER WAS IN ANOTHER BAND WITH PERLEY BEFORE JOING INTERMISION. WITH THE DIVERSE SELECTIONS OF SONGS THE BAND PLAYS IT WAS DECIDED TO ADD A KEYBOARD PLAYER AND ROCHELLE JOINED THE BAND.
The band has had many successes in the greater central New York area. The kids range in ages 11-16. These kids go to school, study, do homework, are on the honor roll. Most of them have sport activities they participate in as well as find the time to practice with a band and play. The band is overseen by the parents of the members. The parents do the booking, supply transportation, roadie, advertising, marketing, change guitar strings, drum heads and along the parade route while the band plays. The band has been featured in Life and Times, Express Publication, Pennysaver and the Observer Dispatch newspaper. interMission the band currently consists of:
DYLAN CRAWFORD-Bass/vocals: He is a whopping 14 years old. Dylan is an original member of interMission the band. Dylan has been playing bass for about 2 years. He is self taught and has an amazing gift for music. He knows how to lay down a smooth groove. He is able to quickly learn his parts for the songs the band has chosen to perform. Dylan goes to Whitesboro High School. Dylan's music interest started at school through friends. Dylan was in another local band, "No Hope Left", for a short time before joining INTERMISSION. He has been featured with Utica's great band THE BOMB. Dylan has been influenced by such bands as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Seether. Besides playing the bass Dylan is an excellent Hockey player and has been playing since he was a small seedling. He is on the Whitesboro Hockey team. He is in the honor society at school. Dylan's parents Kim and Bill are very supportive of Dylan and his dedication to his craft. Dylan's father Bill is a great help to the band in set up and all around "fix this please" person. We'll keep both Bill and Kim around. We thank them.
Dylan's Accomplishments:
2008 1st place Aids Community Resource Talent Show-played bass with the band interMission.
2008 1st place winner Ilion Days Talen Show duo with London
2008 1st place Cosmo Talent Show-played bass with band interMission.
PERLEY YAGER-Guiter/vocals. Pearley is 15 years old. He has been playing guitar and bass for 4 years. He took guitar lessons from Steve Grippe for 3 years. He also takes voice lessons and has been in the high school play for 2 years now with a lead role this past year. Pearley goes to Ilion High School. Perley was in another local band "This is Why" for a short time before joining interMission. Perley has also had the opportunity to play with other local musicians such as Jose Lopez and Steve Riggo. He has been influenced by bands such as Carlos Santana, Avenge Sevenfold, and Sory of the Year. Pearley is a great football player and has been playing for 2 years. Perley is on the high honor roll and is also in the National Junior Honor Society. Perley's parents are Cindy and Perley Yager and they are very supportive in all that he does. Cindy Yager is our public relations manager. We are not sure what that means but boy she does it well and the title sounds cool.
MATT CORIA-Guitar. Matt is 14. He is one of the newest members of the band. Before joining interMission the band Matt was in another band "This is Why". Matt is a self taught guitar player and has been playing in his high school jazz band for three years and has played at multiple chorus concerts for his school. HE ROCKS HARD WITH US. Matt goes to Ilion High School. Matt is most influnced by Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica and Pink Floyd.
ROCHELLE LAGASSE-Keyboards/Vocals. Rochelle is 14 years old. She has been playing the keyboards for 2 1/2 years. In her short musical career she has already played with one of the leading rock drummers of this decade, Mark Shulman. Mark Shulman has been the touring drummer with Pink, Billy Idol and was the touring drummer for Cher's final tour. She has had the pleasure of playing with Mark Shulman twice. Rochelle's music ability was caught by the attention of members of interMission during Rochelle's performance with Mark when she played "Bring Me To Life" by Evenescence. Rochell's favorite bands are Paramore and Crossfade. Rochelle's instructor for keyboards is Keith James and for vocals is Justin Smithson. Rochelle would like to thank both Keith and Justin as well as her family for helping her with her accomplishments.
LONDON ROWLAND-Drums: London is the youngest member of the band. He is just 11 years old and has already accomplished so much in a short time. London has been featured with some of Utica's great local bands such as THE BOMB, NEXT, SHOWTIME AND THE BEDSPINS. London has also had the great privilage to play along side LIBERTY DEVITTO (Billy Joel's drummer for 30 years) David Northrup (Travis Tritt's drummer) and Mark Shulman (drummer for Cher, Pink, Billy Idol and Velvet Revolver). Some of London's other accomplishments include:
2009-1st Place Drum Fight VII on Long Island
2009-1st Place and People's Choice Award Old Forge Talent Showcase
2008-1st Place Frankfort Talent Showcase
2008-1st place winner Ilion Days Talent Showcase duo with Dylan Crawford
2007-2nd place winner New York State Fair talent showcase

2007-2nd place winner Hamilton Young Musicians Music Mix
2007-People Choice Winner Ilion Talent Show

He has also participated in several fundreaiser and community events in the area such as: 2007 Baggs Festival, Thomas Lindsey Benefit Concert, A. Torres Fundraiser, The Utica Childrens Museum, Lady of Lourdes Summer Bazaar and the Little Falls Talent Show. London is inspired by such drummers as Liberty Devitto, Dom Famularo, Tre Cool, Tommy Lee, Neil Peart, Ringo Starr, Mike Portney and the list goes on. London started playing publically in third grade after his trumpet went missing at school about a month before the year end recital. It was decided that London would play a solo on his drums. London's first public drum performance was playing Billy Joel's Keeping the Faith. That was the turning moment for London. He knew he was meant to be a drummer. So as bad as it was for the trumpet to grow legs and walk away it was also a turning point in his young life. London is in the 5th grade at Our Lady of Lourdes School. He is under the instruction of David Snediker of Utica. When London is not in a drum lesson or on the kit he is in the dojo. London is a brown belt in karate. Watch out. He may be the smallest one in the band but he's a tough one.
