Concept on hip-hop in my mind today is different than many others in the industry. When I think of the music it’s more about speaking what you feel for real and showcasing your lyrics with versatility and originality. I was once told that more numbers and statistics build a successful career in music, but I feel that one strong voice will be heard over crowds. The listeners need change to some degree, so as an artist if you can’t throw your point across sideways once in a while then I don’t know if I can support the art. Connecticut is looking for that type of music that can touch just about anybody know matter where you live or where you’re from. There needs to be a mediation of where hip-hop is to be practiced, showed, and distributed. If I remember correctly, over 70% of main streamed hip-hop sales come from the stix (or the suburbs). So, to me only an artist can make cats from the city and suburbs be like…….. “I’m feelin’ that right there.” Ya’ll feel me? It’s just a peace of my mind in what I’m about.
