Kristin Behrmann possesses a lyric mezzo soprano of exceptional beauty and color with a strong upper extension and an easy coloratura. She received her Bachelor of Music, Magna Cum Laude, and Master of Music from University of Denver Lamont School of Music. As a member of the Lamont Opera Theatre, Kristin performed the roles of Mrs. Page (Merry Wives of Windsor), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), Dorabella (Così fan Tutte), Tessa (The Gondoliers), and La Ciesca (Gianni Schicchi).While at Lamont, Kristin was the recipient of the Helen T. Heath Memorial Scholarship, the 2005 Outstanding Graduate Student In Academic Achievement, and placed in the Conservatory Honors Competition. Other honors include winning the H.B. Goodlin Foundation Competition, Vocal Division and placing in the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition.
Kristin has performed as an alto soloist as a part of the Salzburg Summer Festival programming in Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Handel’s Messiah with Mercury Ensemble Chamber Orchestra, Schubert’s Mass No. 5 with Centennial Philharmonic, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Lamont Symphony Orchestra to a sold out audience. Among other solo engagements, she has performed in the Short Attention Span Chamber Music Concert at University of California San Diego, and in a Young Artist Recital at the Athenaeum in La Jolla, CA.
Kristin deftly navigates Rossini’s self titled role in Cenerentola as a member of the 2008 Opera Colorado Outreach Ensemble. She also performs the role of Dionisia (La Curandera) and in a variety of scenes in the program’s Arias and Ensembles Concerts.
In addition to her experience as a performing vocalist, Kristin has a strong orchestral background and has played the violin since age 4.
